General Information

St. Catherine’s Early Education Centre provides care and education for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years. Our programs are tailored to support the developmental needs of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, ensuring a smooth transition at every stage.

At St. Catherine’s Early Education Centre, we maintain educator-to-child ratios that meet or exceed the requirements set by the National Quality Framework (NQF):

  • Birth to 3 years 1:4
  • 3 years to school 1:11

We are open Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM, except for public holidays. We close 23rd of December and reopen on the 2nd of January.

Yes, we offer flexible booking options, including full-time, part-time, and casual bookings based on availability. This ensures families can choose a schedule that works best for them.

We understand that family needs may change. To help us plan effectively, we require:

  • From February 1st to October 31st: A minimum of 2 weeks’ written notice for any booking changes or if you intend to leave the centre.
  • From November 1st to January 31st: A minimum of 6 weeks’ written notice due to the high demand and planning required during this period.

Please note that fees will still apply during the notice period, even if your child does not attend.

Programs and Curriculum

Our programs are inspired by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the Reggio Emilia philosophy. We focus on fostering curiosity, creativity, and independence through play-based and inquiry-led learning. Our educators observe children’s interests and adapt activities to encourage exploration and growth.

Yes, we are proud to offer a Bush Kinder program for our 4-year-olds. This program includes regular visits to Royal Park in Melbourne, where children connect with nature, develop resilience, and engage in hands-on outdoor learning experiences.

At St. Catherine’s, our integrated 3- and 4-year-old Kinder program offers several advantages over traditional sessional Kinder programs, including:

  1. Extended Hours
    • Unlike sessional Kinder, which typically operates for a few hours a day, our integrated program runs from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, providing families with the flexibility to balance work and family life.
  2. Continuity of Care
    • Children remain in the same familiar environment throughout the day, supported by consistent educators. This promotes emotional security and strengthens the bond between educators and children.
  3. Holistic Learning Opportunities
    • Our program combines a play-based curriculum with intentional teaching moments, ensuring children engage in meaningful learning experiences across the entire day, not just during limited Kinder hours.
  4. Focus on Individual Growth
    • With smaller group settings and extended time, educators can tailor learning experiences to each child’s developmental needs, interests, and learning styles, ensuring every child thrives.
  5. Access to On-Site Facilities
    • Unlike sessional programs that may have limited resources, our centre offers purpose-built spaces, including outdoor play areas, creative spaces, and access to nutritious meals prepared by our in-house chef.
  6. Seamless Transitions
    • The integrated nature of our program supports children as they transition from free play to structured Kinder activities and back again, mirroring a natural rhythm that prepares them for school.
  7. Collaborative Community
    • Families become part of a vibrant community, with opportunities for engagement through events, parent-teacher discussions, and collaborative goal setting for their child’s learning journey.
  8. Bush Kinder Inclusion
    • Our integrated 4-year-old Kinder program includes unique learning experiences like Bush Kinder, fostering a connection to nature and promoting resilience, curiosity, and problem-solving skills.

By offering a balance of care, education, and flexibility, St. Catherine’s integrated Kinder program is designed to meet the diverse needs of children and families, making it a comprehensive alternative to traditional sessional Kinder.
